Our Story

Three days after I was born, I was carried aboard a boat on the Merrimack River in Newburyport, Massachusetts. I grew up as a salty, sandy, fish & lobster-loving beach baby. My restlessness and sense of adventure always led me to getting lost, getting found, and discovering new things everywhere in between.
Growing up by the sea, I quickly learned the value of highly versatile and well-made goods whether we were working the boats or packing for a trip between seaports.

The Long Wharf Supply Co. was born out of our family's passion for the sea and a life-long appreciation for rugged materials, a clean aesthetic, and everyday functionality.

Thanks for following our journey.

Our Namesake

In July of 1795 after Boston's historic deep-water landing, Long Wharf, saw the arrival of royal governors, pirates, and British troops, a young New Englander cast off across the Atlantic on a merchant tall ship. After exploring foreign cultures and the production of fine goods for over a year, he returned home to set up a retail shop on Long Wharf. Inspired by his journey, he founded several mills that would drive imports and exports in America during the 1800s.

Those mills employed hard-working men and women throughout the 1900s, when our great-grandfather became a wool sorter and helped produce some of the highest quality textiles in the world.

Our Mariner Stripe

Our Mariner Stripe was inspired by the age old tradition of identifying your lobster buoys. Our family fished traps for decades and used traditional color blocking or sailor stripes to distinguish our lines from those of neighboring lobstermen. We chose to combine patterns and create our signature Mariner Stripe to properly identify and represent the Long Wharf line.
